Searches for intellectual property using artificial intelligence

Artificial Intelligence is bound to change many aspects of our lives, including our homes and health. Due to the fact that it will be used in a lot more products over the next few years, AI is already widely used in internet research and home appliances with speech recognition.

This will have significant effects since AI will handle many tasks that were previously handled only by humans. Most of the need for human involvement will be eliminated by AI. The law governing Intellectual Property will be significantly impacted by this.

The use of AI to help patent and Trademark searches is growing, and it is expected that this trend will continue in 2022, according to a number of IP proprietary institutions:

  • The United States Patent and Trademark Office has started using Artificial Intelligence to help with patent classification and searches in order to assist examiners with their responsibilities. This is significantly enhancing examiner efficiency in terms of time management and accuracy.
  • Therefore, it is logical to assume that AI will be implemented to assist inventors in the APAC (Asia-Pacific) region with prior art searches and analysis of their innovations. The European Patent Office has also highlighted why and how AI will help with prior art investigations.
  • Try to protect some inventions and/or creations produced by AI, there is now a regulatory system that is relevant under French law. Because of this, it is important for the companies to determine the value of their Intellectual Property assets and to utilize this fantastic effort. We can only hope that order parliaments will do the same.
